Hundreds of thousands of Canadians are in need of emergency food support as the global situation continues to grow.

Since our inception, combating food insecurity has been the driving force behind many of our programs, enabling us to be leaders in the front line of the fight against hunger in Canada. Your donation will help support one of many initiatives.

In 2020 alone:
  • We had 28,600+ visits in our food banks. We provided food, meat, clothing, backpacks, school supplies and household items.
  • We had 3,400+ visits to our Arctic Food Bank in Inuvik, NT & Iqaluit, NU.
  • Close to 6,000 food baskets were donated through our Project Ramadan initiative.
  • 41,000+ HOT meals were served to the needy within the GTA
  • 29,000+ meals delivered to our needy seniors.
  • Over 45,000 pounds of Qurbani meat distributed in GTA
We Aim To Raise 1 Million Dollars for our Emergency Food Fund!
  • 850,000 Canadians turn to food banks every month.
  • 1/3: Food bank customers are children and youth.
  • 51%: Households in Nunavut are food insecure.
Unfortunately, due to these uncertain times, visits to food banks are at an all-time high and expected to continue to rise, highlighting the importance of your support.
  • Essential food packages to families in need.
  • Fresh meals to the vulnerable segments of our society.
  • Food banks to remain open and stocked for the marginalized.
1/3 of People Using Food Banks Are Children and Youth

MWC's work targets the most vulnerable segments of our society - those who are marginalized, those who can't afford to put food on the table, and those who go to bed hungry every single night.

During these uncertain times, with so many facing additional financial hardships and roadblocks, MWC knows we need to step up - and help our neighbours now more than ever.

Our Story & Mission.
Project Ramadan was founded in 2009 by a group of young adults who were concerned about the food disparity within their local community. Through the kind donations of people like you, Project Ramadan has raised over $1.8 million, and distributed over 30,000 baskets since its inception.

Project Ramadan is an initiative dedicated to providing support to local families in need through fundraising and assembling food baskets. Our food baskets contain staple food items that help the local community create healthy, balanced meals during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Through key partnerships with organizations such as food banks, women’s shelters and indigenous communities, we distribute baskets to families regardless of their race, religion or nationality. Enthusiastic volunteers come from across the GTA, Hamilton and Ottawa areas to band together and make this initiative possible.

As a Muslim Welfare Canada initiative, Project Ramadan has worked to help many Food Banks in the MWC network, and partner with many beneficiaries across Ontario.

Project Ramadan’s mission is simple: we fundraise, assemble, and distribute baskets containing staple food items to families faced with food insecurity. Our goal is to help limit the number of families that are experiencing food scarcity by providing them staple food items that should last them approximately one month.
MWC, Muslim Welfare Canada is a division of Muslim Welfare Centre of Toronto.
